House of Diehl, New York, Feb 2003
FEb 9. 2003, Priska C. Juschka Gallery, Brooklyn, New York

Suzy Menkes led an eager fashion crowd into the depths of Williamsburg for the runway debut of an as-yet-unknown design house. Packed to the rafters, the Priska C Juschka gallery played host to the swell of NYC's glitterati who'd heard the buzz and had to experience the spectacle of House of Diehl themselves. The front row was proof of the force of fashion underground alive in New York. Attendees included Videofashion, Fashion File, WABC-TV, WWD, Elle, Vogue Italia, Vogue Germany, Paper, Flash Art, Art Forum, and Ms, Suzy Menkes from the International Herald Tribune, who scurried in to secure her front row seat, with her camera crew from the Sean John show.

MJ Diehl's debut line was called BRAND New Me, a capsule collection of 10 "meticulously-made" piece from quilted strips of vintage business shirts. Following the catwalk show, a dozen lucky guests were transformed in a dramatic Instant Couture performance--described as "Galliano meets Edward Scissorhands"--that represented the second part of the collection.

The show was covered in print and on TV internationally, including coverage on ABC News, E! channel, the International Herald Tribune, and Vogue Germany.
